ARTIST STATEMENT

Just about anything beautiful, colorful, and luminous catches my eye making me take a closer look. Born with a creative soul, I desire to express myself through art. For me, painting is as essential as breathing, it is an intricate part of my existence. I've grown to realize painting is not only my passion, it's my calling.

I believe art can transform, heal, and enhance lives. My hope, is that you choose art that speaks to you and stirs your emotions. Choose paintings that make a statement, start a conversation, and tell the story of who you are.

Through my paintings, I hope to provide a constant source of enjoyment and inspiration to all who view them.

MY PROCESS

I experience profound joy while painting. Creating expressive works of art is a beautiful escape for me, where I discover clarity amidst life's chaos and can identify with my true self. The creative process leads me to a place of serenity, teaches me to let go, and keeps me moving forward in the direction of my dreams.

Through expressive intention, I explore various genres of art. This process is, in fact, a journey~one that pushes me outside my comfort zone and continually refines my distinctive style. Abstract expressionism has had a profound influence on my work as I find it exhilarating to watch free-flowing, chemical-like reactions of kaleidoscope colors transform the blank surface of a canvas.

The paint tells an untold story. As I begin each piece, I am quickly immersed in this colorful, fluid story which unfolds in unexpected directions. As I manipulate the layers of transparent, translucent, gem-like veils, I am suspended between uncertainty and complete satisfaction, at times paralyzed with the fear of an unknown outcome. I am compelled to listen and respond to the leading the painting suggests to me. I refer to this unspoken dialogue with my work as Conversations on Canvas. Knowing when to surrender the painting is my secret challenge. However, I have discovered that when I relinquish control and create from within my heart and spirit, everything falls into place. Leonardo da Vinci best described this internal struggle when he said, "Art is never finished, only abandoned."

Painting fulfills me. It is something that extends outside and beyond myself. Creating art is not something I do, it is my calling. It is never about my own ability; it is about my walk with God and honoring Him with the gift He has given me. My work is something I can share with others, inspiring them with beauty, hope, and healing. Only when I have accomplished this can I call myself an artist.
